Airfors Inhaler is a combination medicine used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
1 inhalation twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage; monitor for potential side effects.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is typically required.
How to Take
Administer by oral inhalation using a metered-dose inhaler. Rinse mouth after each use to prevent oral thrush.
Mechanism of Action
Salmeterol is a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle. Fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the lungs.

Absorption
Salmeterol and fluticasone are locally acting in the lungs. Salmeterol absorption is slow and incomplete. Fluticasone has limited systemic absorption.
Metabolism
Salmeterol: Extensive hepatic metabolism by CYP3A4. Fluticasone: Rapidly cleared by hepatic metabolism via CYP3A4.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to salmeterol, fluticasone, or any component of the formulation.
- •Primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute episodes of COPD where intensive measures are required.
Drug Interactions
Beta-blockers
May reduce the bronchodilatory effect of salmeterol.
CYP3A4 inhibitors
May increase plasma concentrations of fluticasone propionate, leading to increased risk of systemic corticosteroid effects.
Storage
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.
Overdose
Symptoms of salmeterol overdose include tachycardia, tremor, headache, and hypokalemia. Symptoms of fluticasone overdose include adrenal suppression, Cushing's syndrome, and decreased bone mineral density. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman.
