Description
Overview of the medicine
Alpatin-005 Eye Drop contains Olopatadine Hydrochloride, an ophthalmic antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer. It is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, such as itching, redness, and watery eyes.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 6 to 8 hours apart.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment is required for elderly patients.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
For ophthalmic use only. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to avoid contamination. Remove contact lenses before administration and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting.
Mechanism of Action
Olopatadine is a selective H1-receptor antagonist and mast cell stabilizer. It blocks histamine release from mast cells and directly blocks H1-receptors, thereby preventing and relieving ocular itching and other symptoms associated with allergic conjunctivitis.

Drug Interactions
Other ophthalmic medications
If using more than one topical ophthalmic drug, administer them at least 5 minutes apart.
Storage
Store at controlled room temperature (20°C to 25°C). Protect from light. Do not freeze.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely with ocular administration. If accidentally ingested, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be administered.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother, as it is unknown whether it is excreted in human milk.
