Excretion
Mainly renal excretion (approximately 90%).
Half life
Approximately 7-12 hours.
Absorption
Rapid and almost complete absorption from oral administration.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to ambroxol or to any of the excipients.
- Patients with rare hereditary conditions that may be incompatible with an excipient (e.g., fructose intolerance if containing sorbitol).
Drug Interactions
Antitussives
Concomitant use with antitussives (cough suppressants) is not recommended as it may lead to a dangerous accumulation of secretions due to the impaired cough reflex.
Antibiotics (e.g., Amoxicillin, Cefuroxime, Erythromycin, Doxycycline)
Ambroxol has been shown to increase the penetration of certain antibiotics into bronchial secretions, potentially enhancing their therapeutic effect.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose are generally mild and may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and dyspepsia. Management is symptomatic and supportive.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C. Use in pregnancy, especially during the first trimester, only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Ambroxol is excreted in breast milk; therefore, caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother.
