For external use only. Wash hands before and after applying the ointment. A sterile gauze dressing may be used to cover the treated area if desired. Avoid contact with eyes.

Mupirocin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, an enzyme necessary for the synthesis of bacterial proteins. This action prevents the incorporation of isoleucine into bacterial proteins, leading to bacterial death.

• Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any of the excipients

Store below 30°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.

Overdose is unlikely with topical application. If accidentally ingested, symptomatic and supportive treatment may be required.

Pregnancy Category B. Studies in animals have not shown harm to the fetus. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing mother.
