Benkill 500 mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic belonging to the penicillin group. It is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250-500 mg every 8 hours or 500-875 mg every 12 hours, depending on infection severity.
Elderly
Same as adults, but dose adjustment may be needed for renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Dose reduction necessary; e.g., CrCl 10-30 mL/min: 250-500 mg every 12 hours. CrCl < 10 mL/min: 250-500 mg every 24 hours.
How to Take
Can be taken with or without food. To minimize GI upset, take with food.
Mechanism of Action
Benicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial cell lysis and death.
