Overview of the medicine
Brezofil-SR 400 mg tablet contains Acebrophylline, a bronchodilator with mucoregulatory properties. It is used to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One 400 mg tablet once daily or twice daily, as directed by physician.
Elderly
Similar to adult dosage, but caution with renal/hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
Reduced dosage may be required. Consult physician.
How to Take
Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew or crush. Can be taken with or without food.
Mechanism of Action
Acebrophylline works by inhibiting phosphodiesterase, leading to bronchodilation, and also has mucoregulatory and anti-inflammatory effects by stimulating surfactant production and decreasing mucus viscosity.

May decrease plasma levels of Acebrophylline.
Cimetidine, Erythromycin, Fluoroquinolones
May increase plasma levels of Acebrophylline.

Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, restlessness, seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage and activated charcoal.
