Description
Overview of the medicine
Calbo Forte is a comprehensive dietary supplement containing calcium, vitamin D3, and other essential minerals like magnesium and zinc. It is primarily used to maintain strong bones, prevent and treat osteoporosis, and address calcium and vitamin D deficiencies.
Uses & Indications

1-2 tablets daily, or as directed by a physician. Best taken with meals.

How to Take
Oral. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Best taken with meals for better absorption.
Mechanism of Action
Calcium is essential for bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D3 helps in the absorption of calcium from the gut and its deposition into bones. Magnesium and zinc also play crucial roles in bone metabolism and overall health.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Long-term effect, not an immediate action.
Excretion
Calcium is primarily excreted via kidneys and feces. Vitamin D3 metabolites are excreted mainly in bile and feces.
Half life
Calcium half-life varies, Vitamin D3 half-life is approximately 15-30 days.
Absorption
Calcium is absorbed primarily in the small intestine, efficiency depends on vitamin D status. Vitamin D3 is absorbed from the small intestine, primarily in the duodenum and jejunum.
Metabolism
Calcium is not metabolized. Vitamin D3 is hydroxylated in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and then in the kidneys to the active form, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25(OH)2D].
