Cinalid 500 mg Tablet is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 500 mg once or twice daily, depending on the severity and type of infection. Duration of treatment varies.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment typically required, but monitor renal function. Max 500 mg once daily for some indications.
Renal_impairment
Dose adjustment required for creatinine clearance < 50 mL/min. Consult a physician.
How to Take
Cinalid tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not take with dairy products, antacids, or iron supplements.
Mechanism of Action
Cinaloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to cinaloxacin or other quinolones.
- History of tendinitis or tendon rupture associated with quinolone use.
- Children and adolescents (under 18 years of age) due to potential cartilage damage.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin
May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin, requiring INR monitoring.
Theophylline
May increase theophylline levels and toxicity.
NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
May increase the risk of CNS stimulation and convulsions.
Antacids, Iron, Zinc, Multivitamins with minerals
May reduce cinaloxacin absorption. Take cinaloxacin at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after these products.
