Description
Overview of the medicine
Cinon-01 Cream contains Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%, a very high potency corticosteroid used for short-term treatment of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of moderate to severe corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin areas once or twice daily. Do not use for more than 2 weeks, or more than 50g per week.
Elderly
Use with caution due to increased skin fragility and potential for systemic absorption.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required, but monitor for systemic effects if absorption is significant.
How to Take
For topical dermatological use only. Apply thinly to the affected area and rub in gently. Wash hands after application. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Mechanism of Action
Clobetasol Propionate acts by inducing phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, called lipocortins. These proteins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor, arachidonic acid.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Clinical improvement often observed within a few days.
Excretion
Excreted renally (kidneys) and to a lesser extent in the bile.
Half life
Approximately 3-5 hours (systemic absorption).
Absorption
Systemic absorption occurs, especially with prolonged use, large surface areas, or occlusive dressings. Absorption is higher in children.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Clobetasol Propionate or any components
- Rosacea
- Acne vulgaris
- Perioral dermatitis
- Pruritus without inflammation
- Perianal and genital pruritus
- Primary cutaneous viral, fungal or bacterial infections
Drug Interactions
CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., Ritonavir, Itraconazole)
May increase systemic exposure to Clobetasol Propionate, leading to increased risk of systemic side effects.
Storage
Store below 30°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Acute overdose is unlikely. Chronic overuse or misuse may lead to systemic effects of hypercortisolism (Cushing's syndrome). Treatment is symptomatic and supportive; gradual withdrawal of the steroid may be necessary.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Topical corticosteroids should be used with caution during lactation; advise women to avoid applying the cream to the breast area.

Doctor Notes
- Emphasize short-term use for severe conditions.
- Advise patients on proper application technique.
