Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
250-750 mg orally every 12 hours, depending on infection severity and type.
Elderly
Dose adjustment may be needed based on renal function.
Renal_impairment
Reduced dose recommended for creatinine clearance < 50 mL/min.
How to Take
Take with or without food. Do not take with dairy products or antacids containing magnesium/aluminum. Ensure adequate hydration.
Mechanism of Action
Ciprofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, essential enzymes for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination, leading to bacterial cell death.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.

Tizanidine
