Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine used to treat various seizure disorders and panic disorder. It works by calming the brain and nerves.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose for panic disorder: 0.25 mg orally twice daily, may be increased to a target dose of 1 mg daily after 3 days. For seizure disorders: Initial dose 0.5 mg orally three times daily, maximum 20 mg/day.
Elderly
Lower initial doses (e.g., 0.25 mg once daily) and slower titration are recommended due to increased sensitivity and potential for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment guidelines, but caution is advised. Monitor for increased sedation.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
Mechanism of Action
