Cefixime is an oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
200-400 mg once daily or 200 mg every 12 hours for 7-14 days depending on infection.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment needed unless severe renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Adjust dose for CrCl < 60 mL/min (e.g., 200 mg daily for CrCl 21-60 mL/min, 100 mg daily for CrCl < 20 mL/min).
How to Take
Can be taken with or without food. For best absorption, consistently take with or without food.

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
