Description
Overview of the medicine
Dakla is a novel broad-spectrum antiviral agent indicated for the treatment of various viral infections, including specific respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses. It works by inhibiting viral replication at multiple stages.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
100 mg once daily for 5-7 days, or as directed by physician.
Elderly
No dose adjustment required, but monitor renal function.
Renal_impairment
For CrCl <30 mL/min, reduce dose to 50 mg once daily.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew. For oral suspension, use the provided measuring device.
Mechanism of Action
Dakla acts as a direct-acting antiviral (DAA) by targeting multiple non-structural proteins essential for viral replication, assembly, and release. It interferes with viral polymerase activity and protein processing, effectively halting the viral life cycle.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 24-48 hours of first dose
Excretion
Mainly excreted via feces (70%) and urine (30%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 8-12 hours
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via CYP3A4 pathway.

Ritonavir
May increase dakla plasma concentrations; consider dose reduction.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
