Description
Overview of the medicine
Dexigent 30 mg Capsule contains dexlansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor used to reduce stomach acid and treat conditions like GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) and erosive esophagitis.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For healing EE: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks. For maintenance of EE: 30 mg once daily. For symptomatic non-erosive GERD: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment is typically necessary for elderly patients.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally, with or without food. The capsule should be swallowed whole. For patients who have difficulty swallowing, the capsule may be opened and sprinkled on a tablespoon of applesauce and swallowed immediately.
Mechanism of Action
Dexlansoprazole selectively inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell, blocking the final step of acid production. This leads to a reduction in gastric acid secretion.

1-2 hours
Excretion
Primarily excreted in urine (approx. 60%) and feces (approx. 23%) as metabolites.
Half life

Extensively metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes, primarily CYP2C19 and CYP3A4.

Atazanavir/Nelfinavir
Decreased plasma concentrations of these antiretrovirals due to increased gastric pH.
Iron Salts, Ketoconazole, Digoxin
Absorption may be altered due to changes in gastric pH.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
