Description
Overview of the medicine
Dinxi 5 mg Tablet is a non-opioid analgesic primarily used for chronic neuropathic pain and certain types of persistent pain. It works by modulating neurotransmitter levels in the brain to reduce pain perception.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose: 5 mg orally once daily. May be increased to 10 mg after 1-2 weeks based on response and tolerability.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required, but use with caution due to potential increased sensitivity to adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
For moderate to severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min), consider reducing the dose to 2.5 mg once daily or increasing the dosing interval.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush, chew, or break.
Mechanism of Action
Dinximol acts as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). By increasing the availability of serotonin and norepinephrine in the central nervous system, it helps to modulate descending pain pathways, thereby reducing the perception of pain.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Analgesic effects typically begin within 1-2 weeks of continuous treatment.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine as metabolites (approximately 70%), with a smaller portion excreted in feces.
Half life
Approximately 12-18 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; peak plasma concentrations reached within 2-4 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily hepatic metabolism via CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 enzymes.
