Domixon (Domperidone) is an antiemetic and prokinetic agent used to treat nausea, vomiting, and gastric motility disorders.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10 mg three times daily, 15-30 minutes before meals. Max 30 mg/day.
Elderly
Same as adults, but caution advised due to potential for QT prolongation.
Renal_impairment
Dosage reduction may be necessary; consider 10 mg once or twice daily for severe impairment.
How to Take
To be taken orally, 15-30 minutes before meals. Do not chew or crush tablets.
Mechanism of Action
Domperidone acts by blocking dopamine D2 receptors in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and in the stomach, increasing gastrointestinal motility and having an antiemetic effect.

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Domperidone
- Patients with prolactin-releasing pituitary tumor

- Concomitant use with QT prolonging drugs or potent CYP3A4 inhibitors

Symptoms include drowsiness, disorientation, extrapyramidal reactions. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, gastric lavage, activated charcoal.

Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and potential benefits outweigh risks. Avoid during lactation as Domperidone is excreted in breast milk.
