How to Take
Drometa 4 mg Injection is administered intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM), as directed by a healthcare professional. IV doses should be given slowly.
Mechanism of Action
Ondansetron selectively blocks 5-hydroxytryptamine3 (5-HT3) receptors, which are located both centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) and peripherally on vagal nerve terminals in the gastrointestinal tract. This action inhibits the initiation of the vomiting reflex.

Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver by cytochrome P450 enzymes (CYP1A2, CYP2D6, CYP3A4).
