Description
Overview of the medicine
Emiprox-DS 80 mg Suspension is a broad-spectrum antibiotic primarily used to treat various bacterial infections in children and adults. It is formulated as a suspension for easy administration.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
160 mg (2 x 80 mg) twice daily for 7-10 days.

Mechanism of Action
Emiproxil inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the translocation of peptides. This leads to the cessation of bacterial growth and replication, exhibiting bacteriostatic activity.

Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; peak plasma concentrations reached within 1-2 hours after oral administration.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via cytochrome P450 enzymes (e.g., CYP3A4).
