Overview of the medicine
Entacyd Suspension is a combination antacid and anti-flatulent medication used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, and gas.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10-20 ml (2-4 teaspoonfuls) 3-4 times daily, between meals and at bedtime.
Elderly
Same as adults, but caution in patients with renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution; magnesium accumulation can occur. Avoid high doses or prolonged use.
How to Take
For oral use only. Shake the bottle well before each use. Take between meals and at bedtime.
Mechanism of Action
Aluminium Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide neutralize existing stomach acid. Simethicone works by reducing the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to combine and be easily eliminated.

Absorption

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component
- Severe renal impairment (due to magnesium content)
- Hypophosphatemia
Drug Interactions
Digoxin
May decrease digoxin absorption.
Iron salts
Reduced absorption of iron. Separate administration by 2-3 hours.
Tetracyclines
Reduced absorption of tetracyclines. Separate administration by 2-3 hours.
Fluoroquinolones
Reduced absorption of fluoroquinolones. Separate administration by 2-3 hours.
Thyroid hormones
May reduce absorption of levothyroxine.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Do not freeze.
Overdose
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation. In severe renal impairment, excessive magnesium intake can lead to hypermagnesemia (muscle weakness, hypotension, respiratory depression). Management is supportive.

Generally considered safe for use during pregnancy and lactation, but it's always advisable to consult a doctor before use.
