Dissolve the contents as per specific instructions on the pack. For typical ORS, drink as much as desired to quench thirst and replace fluid loss, usually 2-4 liters over 24 hours depending on the degree of dehydration. For the '1025 gm' pack, follow specific reconstitution and dosage instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Elderly

Same as adults, but monitor closely for signs of overhydration or electrolyte imbalance, especially if underlying cardiac or renal conditions exist.

Renal_impairment

Use with caution and under medical supervision in severe renal impairment, especially in anuric patients, due to the risk of hyperkalemia and hypernatremia.

Onset

Fluid and electrolyte restoration begins within minutes of oral intake.

Excess electrolytes are primarily excreted via the kidneys.
