Overview of the medicine
Exzilor 0.5 mg Tablet is a novel, highly potent second-generation antihistamine used for the relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. Its low dosage allows for effective symptom control with minimal sedative effects.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
0.5 mg once daily, with or without food.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment required unless severe renal impairment is present. Use with caution.
Renal_impairment
For mild to moderate renal impairment (CrCl 30-50 mL/min), consider 0.5 mg every other day. For severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min), avoid use.
How to Take
Take the tablet orally with water. Can be taken with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Exzilor selectively antagonizes peripheral H1-histamine receptors, inhibiting histamine release from mast cells and reducing inflammatory responses associated with allergic reactions. It also has mild anti-inflammatory properties.

Primarily excreted unchanged via urine (approx. 70%) and feces (approx. 30%).

Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Known hypersensitivity to Exzilor or any components of the tablet.
- •Severe renal impairment (Creatinine Clearance <10 mL/min).
Drug Interactions
CNS Depressants (e.g., alcohol, sedatives)
May potentiate central nervous system depression, although Exzilor is largely non-sedating, caution is advised.
P-glycoprotein inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin)
May increase Exzilor plasma concentrations, though generally not clinically significant.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms may include drowsiness, tachycardia, and headache. In case of overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be initiated. There is no specific antidote.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk, caution is advised for nursing mothers. Consult a doctor.
