Overview of the medicine
Fenticonazole Nitrate is an imidazole derivative with broad-spectrum fungicidal and fungistatic activity. It is used as a vaginal cream for the treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis and other mycotic infections of the vaginal mucosa.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One applicatorful (approximately 5g of cream containing 100mg of Fenticonazole Nitrate) vaginally once daily at bedtime for 3-6 consecutive days.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required for elderly patients.

How to Take
For vaginal use only. Insert one applicatorful deep into the vagina, preferably at bedtime. Read and follow the instructions provided with the applicator.
Mechanism of Action
Fenticonazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis by interfering with cytochrome P450-dependent demethylation of lanosterol. This disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity, leading to increased permeability and ultimately cell death. It also has some antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria and antiparasitic activity against Trichomonas vaginalis.
