Description
Overview of the medicine
Filwel Gold Tablet is a daily multivitamin and multimineral supplement designed to provide essential nutrients that may be lacking in the diet. It supports overall health, boosts immunity, and helps maintain energy levels.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One tablet daily, preferably with a meal, or as directed by a physician.
Elderly
One tablet daily, preferably with a meal, or as directed by a physician.
Renal_impairment
Generally safe, but consult a physician for severe renal impairment due to mineral content.
How to Take
Oral. Take the tablet whole with water, preferably after a meal to enhance absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and reduce gastric upset.
Mechanism of Action
Provides essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that participate in various metabolic processes, enzyme functions, cellular growth, and immune responses. Antioxidants like Beta Carotene, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E protect cells from oxidative damage.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Gradual, as nutritional benefits accumulate over time with regular use.
Excretion
Water-soluble vitamins and excess minerals are primarily excreted renally. Fat-soluble vitamins are excreted via bile and feces.
Half life
Varies significantly for each component (water-soluble vitamins have short half-lives, fat-soluble vitamins longer, minerals vary).
Absorption
Vitamins and minerals are absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract through various active and passive transport mechanisms, depending on the specific nutrient.
Metabolism
Water-soluble vitamins are generally not extensively metabolized and excess is excreted. Fat-soluble vitamins are metabolized in the liver. Minerals are utilized or stored as needed.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- •Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
- •Hypervitaminosis (excessive accumulation of vitamins, especially fat-soluble ones).
- •Severe iron overload disorders (if iron is present in the specific formulation).
Drug Interactions
Antacids
May decrease absorption of some minerals like zinc. Take separately (e.g., 2 hours before or after).
Anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin)
High doses of Vitamin E or K might theoretically interact, but generally not significant with standard multivitamin doses. Consult physician if on anticoagulants.
Certain antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones)
Minerals like zinc may interfere with their absorption. Take several hours apart.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Do not freeze.
Overdose
Acute overdose is rare with multivitamin/multimineral supplements due to their wide therapeutic index. However, excessive intake of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) or certain minerals (e.g., iron, zinc) can lead to toxicity over time. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, headache, and fatigue. Management is supportive; discontinue use and seek medical attention.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Generally considered safe and beneficial during pregnancy and lactation to meet increased nutritional demands, but use under medical advice. Do not exceed recommended doses.
