Flac 125 mg Suspension is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for treating various bacterial infections in children.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Not typically indicated for adults in this strength; higher strengths or different formulations are used.
Elderly
Not typically indicated for elderly in this strength; higher strengths or different formulations are used.
Pediatric
20-40 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8-12 hours, depending on infection severity. Max 500 mg/day.
Renal_impairment
Dosage adjustment may be necessary in severe renal impairment (CrCl < 30 ml/min).
How to Take
Administer orally with or without food. Shake well before use. Use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Flac inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bacterial lysis and cell death.

Clinical effects observed within 1-3 days of treatment initiation.

Mainly via renal excretion (glomerular filtration and tubular secretion).

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Warfarin
May increase anticoagulant effect, monitor INR.
Methotrexate
May increase methotrexate toxicity by reducing renal clearance.
Oral Contraceptives
May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives (advise additional contraception).
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Reconstituted suspension should be stored in a refrigerator (2-8°C).
Overdose
In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Management is supportive and symptomatic; hemodialysis may be considered in severe cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Excreted in breast milk, use with caution during lactation.
