Description
Overview of the medicine
Fluda 50 mg Capsule is an antidepressant medication primarily used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. It helps restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain, thereby improving mood and reducing anxiety.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 25 mg once daily, may be increased to 50 mg after one week. Max dose 100 mg daily.
Elderly
Initial dose 25 mg once daily, cautious titration due to potential increased sensitivity.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment needed for mild to moderate impairment; use with caution in severe impairment.
How to Take
Take orally once daily, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole; do not chew, crush, or open.
Mechanism of Action
Fluda selectively inhibits the reuptake of serotonin (5-HT) by the presynaptic neuron, thereby increasing the concentration of serotonin in the synaptic cleft. This increased availability of serotonin is thought to contribute to its antidepressant and anxiolytic effects.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Antidepressant effects may take 2-4 weeks to become noticeable.
Excretion
Excreted primarily in the urine (approximately 60%) and feces (approximately 35%) as metabolites.
Half life
Approximately 20-24 hours.
Absorption
Well absorbed orally, peak plasma concentrations reached within 4-8 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP2D6 and CYP3A4.
