Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Initial dose 600 mg (two 300 mg tablets) followed by 300 mg twice daily for 5-10 days, or as directed by physician.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required, but caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
For moderate to severe renal impairment, dose reduction to 300 mg once daily may be necessary. Consult physician.
How to Take
Foviral tablets should be taken orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Virazavir selectively inhibits viral RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), thereby preventing the replication of viral genetic material and subsequent viral protein synthesis.
