Adults

Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and surrounding skin, gently rubbing it in, once or twice daily. Continue treatment for at least 2 to 4 weeks, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence.

Elderly

No specific dosage adjustment is required for elderly patients; use as for adults.

Renal_impairment

No dosage adjustment is necessary for patients with renal impairment, as systemic absorption is minimal.

Onset

Symptomatic relief can be expected within a few days; complete cure may take 2 to 6 weeks depending on the infection type and severity.

Excretion

Metabolites are excreted in feces and urine, if systemic absorption occurs.

Half life

Not relevant for topical application due to minimal systemic absorption.

Absorption

Systemic absorption following topical application to intact skin is minimal (less than 1% of the applied dose).

Metabolism

Any systemically absorbed Miconazole is primarily metabolized in the liver.

Warfarin

Although systemic absorption is minimal, there have been rare reports of increased anticoagulant effect when topical miconazole is co-administered with oral anticoagulants like warfarin. Monitor INR if used concurrently.
