Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
200-400 mg once daily or 200 mg twice daily, depending on infection severity.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment needed unless severe renal impairment.

Adjust dose for CrCl < 60 mL/min; e.g., 200 mg once daily for CrCl 21-59 mL/min.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. For best absorption, take with food if gastrointestinal upset occurs.
Mechanism of Action
Cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, leading to cell lysis and death.
