Gol-13125-gm Oral Solution is an anthelmintic medication used to treat a variety of parasitic worm infections in adults and children. It works by preventing the worms from absorbing sugar (glucose), which is essential for their survival. This leads to the worms losing energy and dying, after which they are expelled from the body.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adults and children >2 years: 10 mL (262.5 mg) as a single dose for most common worm infections. For Giardiasis, 10 mL once daily for 5 days.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment required based on age alone. Caution is advised for elderly patients with hepatic or renal impairment.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment necessary for mild to moderate renal impairment. Use with caution in severe renal impairment (eGFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²).
How to Take
Administer orally. Shake the bottle well before use. Can be taken with or without food. For some infections, taking with a fatty meal may enhance absorption.
Mechanism of Action
Golcifloxacin (hypothetical active ingredient in Gol-13125-gm Oral Solution) acts by selectively binding to tubulin in intestinal nematodes, disrupting microtubule formation and impairing glucose uptake. This depletion of glycogen reserves leads to decreased ATP production, immobilisation, and eventual death of the parasite.

Within 2-3 hours for peak plasma concentration, but therapeutic effects may take 24-72 hours to manifest.
