Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
1-2 tablets (5-10 mg) orally once daily at bedtime.
Elderly
Start with 1 tablet (5 mg) orally once daily at bedtime. Adjust as needed under medical advice.
Renal_impairment

How to Take
Take orally with a glass of water, preferably at bedtime, for a bowel movement the next morning. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
h-selax stimulates the nerve endings in the colon, leading to increased peristaltic activity and propulsion of fecal matter. It also increases fluid and electrolyte secretion into the colon, softening stools.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
6-12 hours (oral)
Excretion
Excreted primarily in feces as active and inactive metabolites.
Half life
Not well-defined due to minimal systemic absorption; effects are local.
Absorption
Minimally absorbed systemically after oral administration.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver to active compounds if absorbed, but mostly acts locally.
