Description
Overview of the medicine
Healer 20 mg Capsule contains Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is used to treat conditions caused by too much stomach acid, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), ulcers, and certain types of indigestion.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For GERD: 20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. For Erosive Esophagitis: 20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks. For H. pylori eradication: 20 mg twice daily with appropriate antibiotics for 7-10 days. For Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initial dose of 40 mg twice daily, adjusted as needed.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment is generally required, but caution is advised in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment.
How to Take
Healer 20 mg Capsule should be swallowed whole with water. Do not chew or crush the capsule. It is best taken at least 30-60 minutes before a meal, preferably in the morning.
Mechanism of Action
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that specifically inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (proton pump) located at the secretory surface of the parietal cells in the stomach. This inhibition blocks the final step of acid production, leading to a reduction in gastric acid secretion.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 1 hour (acid reduction)
Excretion
Approximately 80% is excreted in the urine as metabolites, and the remainder in the feces.
Half life
Approximately 1-1.5 hours
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Bioavailability is about 50-68% (increasing with repeated dosing). Peak plasma concentration is reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme system, mainly CYP2C19 and CYP3A4.
Side Effects

Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
