Description
Overview of the medicine
Heel-guard 25 W Cream is a topical preparation containing 25% w/w Urea, used for treating cracked heels, dry and rough skin, and other hyperkeratotic conditions. It works by moisturizing and softening the skin, aiding in the removal of dead skin cells.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply to affected areas twice daily, or as directed by a physician.
Elderly

Renal_impairment

How to Take
For external use only. Wash and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of cream. Gently rub until absorbed. Wash hands after application.
Mechanism of Action
Urea is a keratolytic and emollient agent. As a keratolytic, it helps to loosen and shed dead skin cells from the skin's surface by breaking down the intercellular matrix. As an emollient, it hydrates the skin by attracting and holding water, increasing moisture content and improving skin elasticity.

Primarily local action. Any absorbed urea is excreted renally.
Half life
Not significant due to minimal systemic absorption.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption after topical application to intact skin. Absorption may increase with damaged skin.
Metabolism
Not extensively metabolized systemically due to minimal absorption. If absorbed, follows endogenous urea metabolic pathways.
