Description
Overview of the medicine
Itchnil-1-3-cream is a topical preparation containing a potent corticosteroid, an antibiotic, and an antifungal agent, used for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions complicated by bacterial and/or fungal infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area twice daily for up to 2 weeks. Do not use for more than 4 weeks without medical review.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage, but use with caution due to thinner skin and potential for increased systemic absorption.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment required for topical application, but caution with extensive use.
How to Take
For external use only. Wash and dry the affected area. Apply a thin film of cream and gently rub it in. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Do not use on open wounds or broken skin unless directed by a doctor. Wash hands after application.
Mechanism of Action
Clobetasol Propionate acts as a potent corticosteroid, suppressing inflammation, itching, and vasoconstriction. Neomycin Sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Miconazole Nitrate is an imidazole antifungal that inhibits ergosterol synthesis, essential for fungal cell membranes.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Relief of symptoms typically within a few days of initiation.
Excretion
Excreted mainly via urine and bile if systemically absorbed.
Half life
Systemic half-life not precisely defined for topical use; local effects persist for several hours.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption through intact skin; increased absorption with skin damage, occlusion, or prolonged use, especially in children.
Metabolism
Metabolized primarily in the liver if systemically absorbed.
