Description
Overview of the medicine
Teneligliptin is an oral antidiabetic drug used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
The recommended dose is 10 mg orally once daily. The dose may be increased to 20 mg once daily based on the patient's condition and glycemic control.
Elderly
No dose adjustment is required based on age alone.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment is required for mild to moderate renal impairment. For severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease, dose adjustment may be considered by a physician.
How to Take
Take orally, once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Mechanism of Action
Teneligliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP), which in turn enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and decreases glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells, leading to improved blood glucose control.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within hours of administration, with sustained effect over 24 hours.
Excretion
Excreted renally and hepatically. Approximately 30-60% excreted unchanged in urine.
Half life
Approximately 24 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after oral administration. Peak plasma concentration reached within 1-2 hours.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized by CYP3A4 and flavin-containing monooxygenase (FMO1 and FMO3).

Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from direct light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, symptomatic and supportive treatment should be initiated. Teneligliptin is unlikely to be removed by hemodialysis.
