Overview of the medicine
Magacil Plus 480 mg Suspension is an antacid and antiflatulent medication used to relieve symptoms of indigestion, heartburn, stomach upset, and gas. It works by neutralizing stomach acid and breaking up gas bubbles in the digestive tract.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10-20 ml (2-4 teaspoonfuls) 3-4 times daily, between meals and at bedtime, or as directed by physician.
Elderly
Same as adult dosage, generally well tolerated.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution in severe renal impairment due to potential for magnesium accumulation.
How to Take
Shake bottle well before use. Take orally with or without water. Administer between meals and at bedtime for optimal effect.
Mechanism of Action
Aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide act as antacids by neutralizing hydrochloric acid in the stomach, reducing acidity. Simethicone is an antiflatulent agent that reduces surface tension of gas bubbles in the GI tract, causing them to coalesce and be more easily expelled.

Drug Interactions
Thyroid hormones
May reduce absorption. Administer at least 4 hours apart.
Tetracyclines, Fluoroquinolones, Digoxin, Iron salts
Antacids can reduce the absorption of these drugs. Separate administration by 2-4 hours.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Do not freeze.
Overdose
Symptoms may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting. Management involves symptomatic and supportive care. In severe cases, electrolyte monitoring and correction may be needed.
