Description
Overview of the medicine
Masfen 0.025% Eye Drop is an ophthalmic solution containing Ketotifen Fumarate, primarily used to relieve itching of the eyes due to allergic conjunctivitis. It acts as an antihistamine and a mast cell stabilizer.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
One drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, every 8 to 12 hours.
Elderly
No special dosage adjustment required.
Renal_impairment
Not applicable for topical ophthalmic use due to minimal systemic absorption.
How to Take
For ophthalmic use only. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch, instill one drop, then close eye gently. Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface.
Mechanism of Action
Ketotifen is a non-competitive H1-receptor antagonist and a mast cell stabilizer. It inhibits histamine release from mast cells and reduces the chemotaxis and activation of eosinophils, thereby alleviating allergic symptoms.

Excreted mainly via urine as metabolites.
