Maturex 60 mg tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and acute pain.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Osteoarthritis: 60 mg once daily. Rheumatoid Arthritis: 60 mg once daily. Acute pain: 60 mg once daily, maximum 5 days. Do not exceed 60 mg/day.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment usually required, but caution is advised. Start with the lowest effective dose.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate renal impairment: No dosage adjustment. Severe renal impairment: Not recommended.
How to Take
Maturex tablet should be taken orally, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Mechanism of Action
Meturoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, leading to reduced prostaglandin synthesis, which in turn diminishes inflammation, pain, and fever.

Within 1-2 hours for analgesic effect.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in urine (approximately 70%) and feces (approximately 30%) as metabolites.

Approximately 20-24 hours.
Absorption

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Meturoxib or any component of the tablet
- History of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Active peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Severe heart failure
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment
- Third trimester of pregnancy
Drug Interactions
Aspirin
Increased risk of GI adverse events. Should not be taken concurrently.
Lithium
Increased plasma lithium levels.
Methotrexate
Increased plasma methotrexate levels.
Corticosteroids
Increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding.
Diuretics and ACE inhibitors
Reduced antihypertensive effect and increased risk of renal impairment.
Warfarin and other anticoagulants
Increased risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Management is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered within the first hour of ingestion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category C/D (in third trimester). Avoid use in the third trimester due to potential premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. Use during lactation is not recommended as NSAIDs can pass into breast milk.
