Description
Overview of the medicine
Mavixen 100 mg tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever. It works by blocking certain natural substances in the body that cause inflammation.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
100 mg orally, 2-3 times daily, or as directed by a physician. Max dose: 300 mg/day.
Elderly
Lower doses may be required, closely monitor for adverse effects.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution; dose adjustment may be necessary based on creatinine clearance.
How to Take
Take the tablet whole with a glass of water, preferably with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Do not chew or crush.
Mechanism of Action
Mavixen inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin production, Mavixen alleviates these symptoms.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30-60 minutes.
Excretion
Excreted mainly via urine (metabolites) and a small amount in feces.
Half life
Approximately 2-4 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver via cytochrome P450 enzymes.
