Overview of the medicine
Megafil 20 mg tablet contains Tadalafil, a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor, used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For ED, 10 mg as needed prior to sexual activity, may be increased to 20 mg. For daily ED/BPH, 5 mg once daily.
Elderly
No dosage adjustment needed based on age alone; assess renal/hepatic function.
Renal_impairment
Mild to moderate: Start with 5 mg, max 10 mg. Severe: Not recommended.
How to Take
Take orally with or without food. For as-needed use, take at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. For daily use, take at approximately the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Tadalafil inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for the degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the corpus cavernosum. By inhibiting PDE5, Tadalafil increases cGMP levels, leading to smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow into the penis, resulting in an erection. It also relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder, improving BPH symptoms.

Contraindications
