Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Adults: 4 mg (5 ml) three times daily, up to a maximum of 32 mg (40 ml) daily.
Elderly
Elderly: Lower initial doses may be required (e.g., 2 mg (2.5 ml) twice daily), adjust based on response.
Renal_impairment
Renal impairment: Use with caution; dosage adjustment may be necessary. Not recommended in severe impairment.
How to Take
Orally, with or without food. Use a measuring spoon or cup for accurate dosing.
Mechanism of Action
Cyproheptadine acts as a potent H1-receptor antagonist, blocking the effects of histamine. It also possesses serotonin antagonist activity, which is believed to contribute to its appetite-stimulating effects. Additionally, it has some anticholinergic and local anesthetic properties.

Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
Overdose
Symptoms may include drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, blurred vision, dry mouth, fixed dilated pupils, flushing, gastrointestinal upset, urinary retention, and in severe cases, seizures, coma, and respiratory depression. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage or activated charcoal may be considered if recent ingestion. Do not use stimulants.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk, avoid during lactation due to potential for sedation in infant.
