Naxsil 500 mg Tablet contains Naproxen Sodium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), used for pain relief, reduction of inflammation, and fever.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 250-500 mg twice daily. For acute pain, an initial dose of 500 mg followed by 250 mg every 6-8 hours as needed, not exceeding 1250 mg on the first day and 1000 mg per day thereafter.

Dose adjustment may be necessary. Use with caution in severe renal impairment.
How to Take
Take orally with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal upset. Swallow whole with water.

Mainly excreted in the urine as naproxen, its metabolites, and conjugates (about 95%).
Half life
Approximately 12-17 hours.

Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver to 6-O-desmethylnaproxen, then conjugated with glucuronic acid.

Lab Monitoring
- Regular monitoring of renal function (creatinine, BUN) in long-term use or in patients with renal impairment.
- Liver function tests (ALT, AST) periodically, especially in patients with pre-existing liver conditions.
- Complete blood count (CBC) to check for anemia or other blood dyscrasias, especially with long-term use.
Doctor Notes
- Consider lowest effective dose for shortest duration to minimize risks.
- Regularly assess GI and cardiovascular risk factors, especially in elderly patients or those with a history of such conditions.
- Prescribe with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) if GI risk is high.
Patient Guidelines
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Take with food or milk to reduce stomach upset.
- Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions or other medications you are taking.
