Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) orally, three times daily.
Elderly
Same as adult dose, with caution. Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
MAOIs
Concomitant use with MAOIs can lead to hypertensive crisis, serotonin syndrome, or other severe adverse reactions. Avoid concurrent use and for 14 days after stopping MAOIs.
Beta-blockers
May increase the pressor effects of Phenylephrine.
CNS Depressants
Increased sedative effect when used with alcohol, tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics, or other CNS depressants.
Tricyclic Antidepressants
May enhance the pressor effects of Phenylephrine.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, hallucinations, and seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage or activated charcoal if recent ingestion.

Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and the benefit outweighs the risk. Consult a doctor. Avoid use during lactation as components may pass into breast milk and affect the infant.
