Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
10 mL (2 teaspoonfuls) orally, three times daily.
Elderly
Same as adult dose, with caution. Dose adjustment may be necessary in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function.

Side Effects
Contraindications

Drug Interactions
MAOIs

Beta-blockers
May increase the pressor effects of Phenylephrine.
CNS Depressants
Increased sedative effect when used with alcohol, tranquilizers, sedatives, hypnotics, or other CNS depressants.
Tricyclic Antidepressants
May enhance the pressor effects of Phenylephrine.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include severe drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, hypertension, hallucinations, and seizures. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, including gastric lavage or activated charcoal if recent ingestion.
