Description
Overview of the medicine
Nomos (Omeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid, such as heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and ulcers.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks, or 40 mg once daily for severe cases. For H. pylori eradication, 20 mg twice daily with antibiotics.
Elderly
No dose adjustment generally required, but caution in severe hepatic impairment.
Renal_impairment
No dose adjustment required.
How to Take
Take orally, preferably in the morning before a meal. Swallow the capsule whole; do not chew or crush.
Mechanism of Action
Omeprazole works by irreversibly binding to and inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion.

Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Omeprazole or other benzimidazoles
- Concomitant use with Nelfinavir

Reduced antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel (CYP2C19 inhibition).
