Novelta 480 mg Chewable Tablet contains Albendazole, an anthelmintic medication used to treat various parasitic worm infections.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For most intestinal worm infections: One 480 mg tablet as a single dose. For neurocysticercosis/hydatid: 480 mg twice daily with meals for 8-30 days, or as directed by physician.
Elderly
No specific dose adjustment is generally required, but caution is advised in those with liver impairment.
Renal_impairment
No specific dosage adjustment is required for renal impairment, as excretion is primarily biliary.
How to Take
Chew the tablet completely before swallowing, preferably with a fatty meal to enhance absorption.
Mechanism of Action
Albendazole acts by inhibiting microtubule polymerization, leading to disruption of parasite motility, glucose uptake, and ultimately death.

Symptoms may include gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), headache, dizziness, and fatigue. Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Gastric lavage and activated charcoal may be considered soon after ingestion.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Category C in pregnancy. Not recommended during pregnancy, especially first trimester. Use only if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is unknown if Albendazole is excreted in breast milk, caution is advised in breastfeeding mothers.
