Description
Overview of the medicine
Omenix 40 mg Injection contains Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It is used to treat conditions caused by too much stomach acid.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Usually 40 mg IV once daily. For severe cases or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, up to 40 mg IV twice daily.
Elderly

How to Take
Administer as a slow intravenous injection (over 2.5 to 5 minutes) or as an intravenous infusion (over 20-30 minutes) after reconstitution with appropriate solvent.
Mechanism of Action
Omeprazole selectively inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cells. This irreversible inhibition reduces gastric acid secretion.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30-60 minutes.
Excretion
Mainly excreted in the urine (approx. 80%) and feces (approx. 20%).
Half life
Approximately 0.5-1.5 hours.
Absorption
Rapidly absorbed after intravenous administration, high bioavailability.
Metabolism
Extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 enzymes.
