Palorex 0.5 mg Tablet contains Palozepam, a benzodiazepine derivative primarily used for its anxiolytic, hypnotic, and muscle relaxant properties. It is prescribed for the short-term management of anxiety and insomnia.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Anxiety: 0.5 mg 2-3 times daily. Insomnia: 0.5-1 mg at bedtime.
Elderly
Initial dose of 0.25 mg once or twice daily, gradually increasing if necessary.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution. Dosage reduction may be necessary.
How to Take
Administer orally with or without food. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Mechanism of Action
Palozepam enhances the effect of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, by binding to GABA-A receptors. This leads to reduced neuronal excitability, resulting in anxiolytic, sedative, hypnotic, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant effects.

Contraindications

Drug Interactions
Opioids
Increased risk of respiratory depression and sedation.
Alcohol & CNS Depressants

May increase Palozepam levels.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
Overdose
Symptoms include somnolence, confusion, diminished reflexes, coma, and cardiorespiratory depression. Treatment is primarily supportive. Flumazenil may be used as an antidote.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Category D. Avoid during pregnancy due to risk of congenital malformations and withdrawal symptoms in neonates. Excreted in breast milk, so avoid during lactation.
