Prednisolone is a corticosteroid used for its potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. It treats various conditions including allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory disorders.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Dosage varies widely depending on the condition being treated and patient response, typically ranging from 5 mg to 60 mg orally per day, often initiated at higher doses and then gradually tapered. For 5mg tablets, often used for maintenance or tapering.
Elderly

Renal_impairment

How to Take
Take orally, preferably with food or milk to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Do not stop abruptly; follow a tapering schedule advised by your doctor.

Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in the liver, mainly by CYP3A4, to inactive metabolites.
