Description
Overview of the medicine
Prosma-0025 Ophthalmic Solution is a topical anti-inflammatory eye drop used to relieve ocular inflammation and discomfort associated with various eye conditions.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) 2-4 times daily, or as directed by a physician.
Elderly
No specific dosage adjustment required for elderly patients; use with caution in those with pre-existing ocular conditions.
Renal_impairment
No dosage adjustment required due to minimal systemic absorption and excretion.
How to Take
For ophthalmic use only. Wash hands thoroughly before administration. Tilt head back, pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pouch, instill one drop into the pouch, then gently close the eye for 1-2 minutes to allow absorption. Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. If using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between applications.
Mechanism of Action
Prosma-0025 acts by inhibiting specific inflammatory pathways in the ocular tissues, reducing prostaglandin synthesis and inflammatory cell migration, thereby alleviating pain, redness, and swelling in the eye.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Within 30 minutes for symptomatic relief.
Excretion
Excreted mainly via tear film and ocular surface turnover; systemic excretion is minor via urine.
Half life
Local ocular half-life is approximately 2-4 hours; systemic half-life is negligible due to rapid local metabolism.
Absorption
Minimal systemic absorption after topical ocular administration. High local concentration achieved in tear film and anterior segment of the eye.
Metabolism
Primarily metabolized in ocular tissues by esterases; minimal hepatic metabolism detected.
