Description
Overview of the medicine
Prufit is a medication containing Prucalopride, used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation in adults when laxatives do not provide adequate relief.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
2 mg once daily.
Elderly
2 mg once daily, consider 1 mg if needed.
Renal_impairment
1 mg once daily for severe renal impairment (CrCl < 30 mL/min).
How to Take
Take orally with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Mechanism of Action
Prucalopride is a selective, high-affinity serotonin (5-HT4) receptor agonist that acts on the enterochromaffin cells in the gastrointestinal tract to stimulate colonic motility and accelerate colonic transit, thereby relieving constipation.
