Description
Overview of the medicine
Restovit-M Pediatric Drop is a comprehensive multivitamin and multimineral supplement specially formulated for infants and young children to support healthy growth and development, prevent nutritional deficiencies, and boost immunity.
Uses & Indications
Dosage
Adults
For children 0-1 year: 0.5-1 ml daily. For children 1-4 years: 1 ml daily. For children 4-6 years: 1-1.5 ml daily. Or as directed by a physician.
Elderly
Not applicable for this pediatric formulation. Refer to adult/geriatric formulations.
Renal_impairment
Use with caution in severe renal impairment. Consult a physician for specific guidance and potential dosage adjustments, especially due to mineral content.
How to Take
Oral administration. Administer directly into the mouth using the provided dropper, or mix with a small amount of milk, fruit juice, or food. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Mechanism of Action
Provides essential vitamins and minerals that act as cofactors in various metabolic pathways, support cellular function, bone development, immune response, and overall physiological processes necessary for growth in children.
Pharmacokinetics
Onset
Nutrient levels begin to rise within hours, but clinical benefits for deficiency may take weeks to months.
Excretion
Water-soluble vitamins are primarily excreted via the kidneys. Fat-soluble vitamins and minerals are primarily excreted via bile and feces, with some renal excretion.
Half life
Varies widely depending on the specific vitamin/mineral; water-soluble vitamins have short half-lives, fat-soluble vitamins longer, and minerals can be stored.
Absorption
Vitamins and minerals are absorbed in the small intestine via various active and passive transport mechanisms.
Metabolism
Vitamins undergo various metabolic conversions to their active forms; minerals are generally not metabolized but are incorporated into biological structures or function as cofactors.
Side Effects
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- Hypervitaminosis (especially A or D).
- Hemochromatosis (due to iron content).
Drug Interactions
Antacids
May reduce absorption of iron and some vitamins. Administer at different times.
Tetracyclines/Quinolones
Iron and zinc can chelate with these antibiotics, reducing their absorption. Separate administration by at least 2-4 hours.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed.
Overdose
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea. Severe overdose, particularly of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D) or iron, can lead to toxicity (e.g., hypercalcemia, liver damage). Management is supportive and symptomatic, and may involve gastric lavage or chelating agents in severe iron toxicity. Seek immediate medical attention.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This is a pediatric formulation. Pregnant or lactating women should consult a physician for appropriate adult multivitamin/mineral supplementation.
